President’s Message – January 2018

Happy Holidays to All!!!

Let me be the first to wish you Happy New Year!!!  The January meeting – 1/10/2018 – is our first chapter effort using a Web Ex technical speaker format.  The in-person session will be held courtesy of Perdue Farms Inc at their Perdue Learning University training center located at 102 Poplar Hill Ave in downtown Salisbury MD 21802.  The center has parking arrangements at the conveniently located public parking garage.

We will begin the lunch/business meeting at 11:30 AM and then log into the Web Ex technical session from the meeting room at noon.  Please make every effort to attend the in-person meeting to interface with other safety professionals.  If you are unable, please instead attend the Web Ex session.  I will be sending out an invitation presently with the Web Ex link.

The speaker is a safety professional and personal friend – “soon to be Doctor”  Daniel Ashworth ASP, CFEI, CFPS a Technical Group Leader for BWX Technologies, Inc.  He is certified as both a Fire & Explosion Investigation (fire/arson/explosion) and Fire Protection Specialist.  He is a leading technical expert at  BWX which specializes in Government and Commercial component manufacture, engineering, design, construction, inspection, repair and plant management of nuclear power facilities.  Ashworth is also the President of the ASSE Star Valley chapter in our ASSE region.  The topic is “Emergency Response and Fire Response – More Toxic Than Before”.

There will be no charge for this Web Ex call-in-session (usual fee for in-person attendance to defray the meal cost)  as we are trying to identify best-practice alternatives to involve increased participation in our chapter technical forums and sessions.
